About Revolution Spin
What makes Revolution Spin different from any other Spin studio or health club?
We're not a health club. A health club will offer one type of Spin class and they'll call it Spinning (or Cycle Fury or Crazy Cycle Ryde or something similar). A health club may only offer one type of Pilates, Zumba, or Yoga class. But at Revolution Spin you'll find a huge variety of classes to whet your appetite and feed your exercise itch. We carefully craft our classes to give you the absolute best workout every single time you walk through the front door. We don't want you coming a few times a month, we want you coming a few times a week. Our instructors will get to know you and work with you.
We offer all levels of Spin, Yoga, Zumba, and Pilates - from the beginner to the advanced - as well as strength and Spin classes, Spin Bootcamps (named in both Competitor's magazine and Make It Better Magazine as the Best Spin Class of 2012 in the Midwest), 2 hour marathon rides, and of course, The Gun Show, a class that incorporates upper body strength training and high intensity interval Spin.
What kind of Spinner bikes does Revolution Spin have?
We have Spinner NXT Spin bikes, otherwise known as "The Cadillac of Spin Bikes". All of our bikes are equipped to be used with either gym shoes or SPD clips.
What are the best features of Revolution Spin?
We are an intimate studio with 20 bikes and a space we cap at 10-12 clients for Pilates, Yoga, and Zumba on our other side, because what you're doing in class and how you're doing it matters to us. We don't subscribe to the philosophy that bigger is better. We are obsessed with giving you the best workout possible, and that means individual attention without being singled out. We're motivating, yes, but more than that, we're motivated and inspired by our clients and the energy they bring to every class. You'll notice a sense of community that starts to form in our classes and you'll see that you have friends and allies that encourage and support you.
What do I need to bring when I come to class?
We provide you fresh, clean towels on your bike, a limited supply of yoga mats if you forget yours, and an unlimited supply of cooler water. All you need to do is show up in comfortable workout clothes with gym shoes or cycling shoes and be ready for a one of kind workout.
What is Revolution Spin's cancellation policy?
Our classes are popular! If for any reason you cannot make your scheduled class, we ask that you cancel online no less than 24 hours prior to the start of class in order to not be charged your class credit.
Spinning Questions
What is Spinning?
Spinning is a form of exercise with classes focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery that involve using a Spin bike with a weighted flywheel, all done in a classroom setting.
What benefits will I see from Spinning?
Weight Loss: Spinning burns calories at a high rate. You can easily burn 600-1,000 calories in a 50-minute class. This makes Spinning highly effective for weight loss.
Strength: Spinning works on your core, your glutes, your legs, your triceps, your shoulders, and your hips during class.
Body Shaping: Get that toned butt, legs and tummy; melt flab and cellulite revealing toned muscles below.
Emotional benefits: De-stress! A Spin class produces a huge endorphin rush in the brain leaving you feeling refreshed, satisfied and accomplished.
Heart health: This high intensity cardio activity improves overall health, keeps you young and reduces the risk for heart disease.
Joint Health: Spinning is a high intensity and low impact workout. The circular motion of the PEDALS eliminates pounding on joints and lower back. It is a great way to get in shape without damaging your body.
Do I need to be in great shape to take a Spin class?
The beauty of Spinning is that every individual that takes a class is just that – an individual. YOU control the resistance and the pace, making each class an opportunity to make yourself stronger and meet your goals. Because each class is individual to you, you can come in without any experience, or you could come in with tons and continue to push yourself further!
What makes Spinning class different from other group exercise classes?
Top-notch instructors, invigorating music and visualization come together to make Spinning class both fun and effective. If you've ever left a group exercise class feeling frustrated, you'll appreciate that there are no complicated moves to learn with the Spinning program. Regardless of how fit, flexible or coordinated you are, you'll get a great workout. Simply hop on your bike, set the resistance to the level that's right for you, and let your instructor guide you through an incredible ride.
Will Spinning make my legs bulky?
Short answer: No. “Climbing”, the action of sitting in the saddle or standing while putting your weight on the handlebars while at a higher resistance is what will build the most visible muscle in your legs. However, climbing also induces your metabolism to rev up burning more overall calories. If you are ever in doubt ask your Revolution Spin instructor what he or she recommends.
